Future Steering Committee Plans:

The leadership of the Campus/Community Consortium of the Capital Region (4CR) will be the 4CR Steering Committee.  The Committee structure consists of nine seats—four permanent seats and five at-large seats.  The Steering Committee will write legislation, pass bylaws, preside over the application and selection process, set fees, make decisions regarding network structure, and handle other 4CR related matters.

4CR Steering Committee Structure

Permanent Seats:

The four permanent seats will be assigned to the 4CR founding member institutions (Siena College, the Sage Colleges, the College of Saint Rose, and Unity House).  The term lengths of these seats are indefinite for as long as the network is in existence.  Representatives for these seats will be named by the chief officer of each institution.

If for whatever reason a permanent seat becomes vacant (e.g., member leaves the network), the steering committee will seek to replace the vacant seat with an institution of similar size, integrity, values, etc. as the institution which previously held the seat.

At Large Seats:

According to the 4CR mission, “4CR is guided by the principles of community voice, student engagement, faculty commitment and social responsibility “.  To fulfill that mission, the at large seats will be filled with a mix of higher education, K-12 schools, and community partners.

·         One student seat

·         Two K-12 School seats

·         One additional community partner seat

·         One additional higher education seat

Initially the at large seats will be selected by the founding members of 4CR.  As the network expands, the at large seats will be elected by a group of their peers.  We envision that there will be a Student Caucus, Community Partner Caucus and Faculty Caucuses which will be able to elect the representatives for the At-Large seats.  4CR strongly believes that all member institutions should have a voice in the Network.  The goal is to ensure that these voices are heard and are represented by all constituencies.  Given that this is a new organization, these structures are tentative and are not yet fully developed, and, therefore may be updated as the organization grows.

Term lengths of the at large seats are to be staggered by one, two, and three year terms (See graphic).

·         Student seat – 1 year

·         K-12 seat – 2 years

·         K-12 seat – 2 years

·         Higher Education seat – 1 year

·         Community Partner seat – 3 years
