The Campus/Community Consortium of the Capital Region

in conjunction with Siena College

presents

the First Capital Region Academic Service Learning K-16 Summer Conference

 

 

The Campus/Community Consortium of the Capital Region (4CR) is pleased to announce the First Annual Academic Service Learning K-16 Summer Conference to be hosted at Siena College Tuesday through Thursday July 14-16, 2009.  4CR is holding a call for proposals on the following academic service learning related topics:

 

·         Assessing Impact – course level, individual student level, and institutional level

·         Developing Community Partnerships – best practices of establishing and developing community partnerships

·         Doing Community-Based Research – project-oriented research

·         Exploring Academic Service Learning Pedagogy – present courses

·         Thinking about Ethics – Power, ethics, and inequality in service

 

We invite participants to submit abstracts for short presentations (20 minutes).   Abstracts should include the presentation title, name and institution of each presenter, and text of up to 400 words describing the content of the presentation.  We strongly encourage participation of K-12 teachers, students, as well as, Community Partners.  Please submit abstracts electronically to Julie Comley at jcomley@siena.edu.  Include “4CR ASL Conference” in the subject line of the e-mail.  All applications will be reviewed by the conference committee.

 

Important Dates:

Deadline for submission:  May 31, 2009.

Notification of Acceptance:  June 10, 2009.
